I decided to buy this bike as I realized the hard way that you can't buy a good electronic bike in this price range. There are many offered but they are cheaply made and won't last long at all. (see my review of my recently deceased former bike that barely lasted a year). Let me first say, this bike is solid. It's made from huge pieces of welded steel frame. It's chain driven so no belts to break or stretch out (and chains can easily be replaced) and there are absolutely no electronics required to operate. I've read some of the other reviews about it being noisy and it's not bad at all. Instead of the whir of an electronic bike, it makes the sound kind of like riding a bicycle where you hear the chain and gears engaging. It was really nicely packaged, even bolted to temporary steel pedestal and securely wrapped in styrofoam and while the box it came in looked it like was air dropped, the bike was perfectly intact. Here are some things I think you should know if you are considering or actually do buy this bike. For those considering: 1) The riding position is like a spinning bike (or racing bicycle). You can sit upright but if you grab the handlebars you are leaning forward like you are doing the Tour De France. I'm ok with this, I actually feel more of a burn in my abs and waist. 2) The seat is very narrow and not heavily padded at all. (again think like a racing bike saddle seat) But any standard seat will fit and the seat from my former bike was larger and very well padded and fit perfectly. For those who actually bought this bike, before you put it together...consider this, there is a basic electronic display that uses a wireless transmitter to send info such as RPM, calories burned etc.. to a display that also has a clock. Both the transmitter and display take 2 AA batteries. The transmitter mounts to the front fork and uses what is called a reed sensor (kind of like a small meat thermometer the kind with a wire attached) that clamps to the chain guard and reads a magnetic signal from the wheel with each revolution. The instructions show you to put it on the front of the fork, you may want to put it on the side as you need to get the sensor very close to the wheel (1/8 of an inch) and there isn't much play in the wire. Or before you velcro attach the transmitter, hook up the sensor, make sure everything works, then secure it. One last comment, I really like the fact that if the sensor or display break, the bike is still totally usable. It's 100% mechanical and does not need electricity or batteries to get a great cardio workout. Only the display uses batteries. The workout is awesome and I actually like the resistance provided by the pads instead of electronics, it feels more realistic and more difficult. And unless you are going to be riding it right next to your spouse who is still sleeping in bed, it's not that noisy at all.
